Get Delulu With Me

A six-week workshop for clarifying your vision and building tools for the journey there

February 27th to April 3rd

on Zoom ❦ Fridays at 9-10am PT / 12-1pm ET / 17-18 BST

You’ve tried to make the change, to take the action, develop the habit —

but it won’t stick.

Worse yet, the thoughts are so punishing: “Why am I like this?” “It’s so hard for me to do this.” “I’m going to ruin my life!” You try to do the thing (or stop doing the thing), you fail (or, if you’re like me, you avoid it), and the shame spiral begins.

It can be different — you can be different. Your old stories can quiet and fade. You can access your inner power and build confidence. You can love yourself and make your dreams come true. I know because I’m doing it.

The strategies I teach in this six-week workshop are hard-won, and I use them constantly for myself and my clients. Get delusional with me, and literally open your brain to possibility.

Delulu too “woo”? It’s all backed by science.

Beyond mainstream phenomena like the placebo effect and self-fulfilling prophecies, not to mention a wealth of studies on positive psychology, now even neuroscience shows that the brain is quite malleable based on its inputs. In fact, it has trouble differentiating between vivid imagination and reality (!).

When you practice imagining your dream life, your brain gets a new blueprint as its guide — and it starts to see and make connections it hadn’t previously. Serendipitous events seem to occur more frequently because your brain is open to them, looking for them.

The work: Make your blueprint, build your toolkit

In this workshop, we’ll use delulu journaling, an imagination practice, to create a new blueprint that crosses different areas of our lives — our inner selves, work and projects, wellbeing, money and abundance, relationships, and community.

We’ll also build a mindset toolkit. You’ll develop new self-talk phrases and skills and learn mindfulness and somatic practices that are essential for resilience. And, by working to delulu journal for 30 days, you’ll road-test habit formation, the foundation for effective change. (You’ll use all of these in your own efforts at actualizing, potentially through the action workshop that follows.)

You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of not only what you want to accomplish in the coming years (and decades!), but the kind of person you want to become and what it will take to get there. You’ll practice slowing down and noticing your thought patterns to develop a refined ability to focus on what really matters to you.

Who am I?

I’m Mercedes, a creative coach and design writer. I’ve run dynamic creative teams as the content director for the Line Hotel (Soho House & Co.) and the executive editor of Curbed (Vox Media). As a coach, I regularly lead people through vision exercises, mindfulness practices, and habit- and system-formation — all the ingredients for developing a fulfilling life and creative career.

I’m energized by helping people change their minds about themselves and actualize the person inside — that one you’ve always known is there — through creativity, interconnectedness, vulnerability, and resilience.

Actualizing happens through clearly knowing who that “one” is and through taking small, daily actions to draw out that being. I’m on this project, too, and have been intently working on my mindset for a year and a half. I can tell you with confidence that it’s paying off.

My coaching methodology relies on my experience as a curious journalist: I research broadly and have gathered knowledge from many different worlds — art, science, philosophy, spirituality, literature, mythology, and more — using my own experience to find the through-lines between it all.
